Why do you choose to use wood harvested from a high altitude?
The trees that go into the projects that we build, are carefully hand selected from timber harvested from the okanagan highlands. A vast high altitude plateau, this high altitude, coupled with the species natural tendencies to grow in thick stands, contribute to a close growth ring, and a very tight fiber. The profile of materials used in the construction of our products is highly under utilized, and often trampled on, or piled up in slash heaps during commercial logging operations, its worth and beauty completely ignored. It is a superior building material because of the growing conditions and its growth characteristics. Pound for pound stronger than steel. Up

What joinery method do you use to make your furniture?
The mortise and tenon joint is one of the oldest ways to join wood, and has many advantages over other styles of fastening, particularly with the joining of end grain to cross grain. but it has a few disadvantages as well, over time the joint will loosen up, either due to the shrinking of the woods, or movement that erodes the wood , without a mechanical fasting the union is bound to degrade, and move and squeak, that is why we reinforce every load bearing joint with lag bolts. All of the lag bolts are hidden inside the piece, so as not to detract from the aesthetics of the furniture that we create. So by adding a fastening system to an already tried and true method, contributes to a superior fasting system. For more information on the reinforcement, feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have. Up

Will checking or cracking of the wood effect the structural integrity?
Cracking and checking are naturally accruing phenomena s and in no way reduce the strength of the piece, rather they contribute to the character and beauty of the over-all appearance. If a crack or check were to have a structural impact it would be replaced, that impact would be determined by our discretion. It would be a very rare event that a crack or check would have such an impact as to effect structural integrity, as to warrant replacement. Up

Can I get my product treated for outdoor use?
Yes, we use a number of commercial products designed to protect wood left outside. Please note that all prices are for unfinished products, and the staining and finishing for outdoor use is an additional charge. Up

Can I take my product with me if I move?
All of the products that we produce are designed to be broken down, to facilitate moving, and to that end, no glue is used or recommended in the reassembly of our products, rather a hidden mechanical fastener is used, to reinforce and secure the mortise and tenon joint. All major load bearing points are connected to the piece with a one and a half inch mortise, the shear strength of which would be in the thousands of pounds, much more than the use it will see ever in its life time. Thorough instructions and all hardware required to assemble your project is included in the purchase price. Delivery and assembly is available at a reasonable rate. Up

Do you use other types of wood in your products?
Larch and Fir are available at an additional premium. Please inquire for availability and price. Up

Do you build log railings?
Yes, custom log railings are $30 per lin\ft. hardware included. Up

What return policy do you offer?

None of our furniture is built to be left outside unprotected, and in doing so will result in the voiding of our guarantee.
